WHO AM I:
I am Fred Preiser. I have been involved with horses since 1978, including a year as a working student and competitor in 1981 at Denny Emerson's Tamarack Hill Farm in Strafford, Vermont. Denny was a member of the gold medal U. S. Equestrian Team at the World Championships in 1974, a member of the 1976 U. S. gold medal Olympic Team, and a past president of the USCTA. As a teacher, coach, and respected horseman of the highest integrity, Denny instilled in me the highest sense of ethics in horsemanship. WHAT MAKES THIS PARTNERSHIP DIFFERENT THAN OTHERS? In contrast to most conventional syndicates available today, there is only a one-time buy-in fee. THERE ARE NO MONTHLY CHARGES!! Furthermore, rather than buying a share in one horse, participants will have shares in four fillies, thus increasing the potential profits. Why fillies, you might ask? (Breeders' Cup Adds $1M Turf Event For 1999). WOULDN'T YOU RATHER OWN THE FACTORY? If we have a stakes placed or stakes won well-bred mare, we get to see the progeny go either to the sale ring or the racetrack. Estimating conservatively, a filly or mare that wins or places in graded stakes races with lifetime earnings of $300,000 can be boarded in Kentucky and bred, for instance, to a $25,000 stallion for five years with the potential to sell or race the get. While conceding that colts consistently beat fillies and mares at eight and ten furlongs, we know that fillies and mares have excellent success at 12 furlongs against colts on the turf. Therefore, we are looking to purchase fillies and mares with turf and distance in their pedigrees.
Longevity: We will not be participating in two-year-old racing; rather, we will not expect these fillies to run until June of their third year. Why? Because everyone knows that a horse only has so many races to run. I'd rather concentrate on their fourth and fifth years when older fillies have proven to be more successful money winners.
IN THE PAST, MY ASSOCIATES HAVE PURCHASED THE DAMS OF MAJOR STAKES WINNERS, CHAMPIONS, ECLIPSE AWARD WINNERS, AND GROUP WINNERS IN EUROPE.
HIGH REWARD, HIGH RISK:
Racehorse ownership is highly speculative; any investment you make may be lost in part or in full. However, when things do go right in racing, the upside potential could be enormous, not to mention the excitement and the thrill of standing in the winner's circle. This plan does not reap instant rewards. It is not for the impatient, and it is not a get-rich-quick formula. WHAT I INTEND TO DO: Crystal Vision Racing Partnerships and Syndicates will specialize in organizing and managing racing partnerships. We will buy, either privately or at prestigious public auctions, well-bred weanling and yearling fillies to be handled by the foremost trainers in California. We will concentrate on late-maturing fillies with turf and distance in their pedigree. The syndicate will be capitalized at US $300,000. Funds will be deposited in an interest-bearing escrow account. OUR UNORTHODOX APPROACH: WE'RE IN NO HURRY The horses will be boarded in California, started--not broken--at two years old, and then turned out. As three year-olds, they will be legged up again, and when fit, sent to a training center, around March of their third year. Assuming we have a runner, she would go to a trainer in June or July. If all goes well and a horse breaks her maiden, she would continue to race, acquiring experience and seasoning until October, at which time she would be let down for the rest of the year while we plan her four year-old campaign. This would be the appropriate time to maximize her greatest potential. It costs no more to use the best trainers, farriers, vets, and facilities. The top trainers are looking to acquire horses that are talented and can run. ENJOY THE THRILL OF OWNERSHIP: Partners and their guests will be able to visit their horse during training whenever they like, as well as cheer her on from the owners' box on race-day.
