american psycho
i read a book a few years ago. american psycho by brett easton ellis.
an amazing read.
i have never read anything close to this kind of story (except ellis' other novels). a satirical look at the extreme lifestyle of 80's youth. not so much the school kids but the twenty-somethings growing up in the mix of drugs, partying, envy, overzealous spending and disregard for everyone but themselves. utter misogynists.
i can't relate to the story at all which is sometimes nice about fiction. it's not my lifestyle...sorta....i mean...the partying i can relate too...a little.
this was/is probably the only book that has made me hunch over and vomit in the trash can. it is satirical but it is extremely graphic and grotesque at the same time. great writing.
as gossip goes, i have heard his publisher dropped him and he received numerous death threats. the book focuses on patrick bateman and his out of control lifestyle and stint into conducting various murders, mostly of women, and the lunacy that follows (are the murders real or a psychotic reverie?). i have met a few girls whom classify brett easton ellis as their favorite novelist...interesting...the movie version of the book came out in 2000 and starred christian bale. oddly enough the director and writer were both women. also, it is not a bad interpretation of the book, albeit, less graphic and much more tame.
anyway two reasons i bring up this book. brett easton ellis is writing a new book that should be out this time next year. and i saw this 'photoshop-ed' graphic of the movie poster. original is here. had to pass it along to the other 48% out there.

friday
we had some heavy rainfall for the past two days. yesterday the sky rained its ass off...is it depressed from the outcome of the election. post election blues maybe?
when it rains, i begin to think of my clothes. i own nothing that will guard off the rain. all my clothes are cotton, denim, wool, nylon (some spandex but i will spare you)...i own no rain jacket or water-proof boots. i do have a snow jacket but that is overkill. should i decide to purchase some kind of rain slicker or a poncho...the rain will stop...i would put the item in the closet for next year. i just bought an umbrella a year ago. how many times have i used it? once, maybe twice. i should open it to see what decided to take up residency in the folds.
currently, as always in california...the clouds have parted and the sun is out. it is bright and clear. the air is crisp and clean. pools of rain water have filled up pot holes and driveways. the roads are muddy and cluttered with leaves, day-glow orange cones and all sorts of lose trash.

no talent...but loved by america

i still love this country. i don't hate republicans i don't hate democrats. my vote was solely for an individual. i hate bush as a presidential figure. i know the president really doesn't have that much control over our nation. but he is supposed to be a leader...a leader of the free world...so act like it. take speech classes. show us you care. when you say something and then a month later tell us you never said such...hey 'tard, like vegas, everybody is watching...and taping. you said we would win the war on terror and now you say we will never win it. and there are thousands of other issues then just the war on terror...i can't really remember you talking about anything else mr. war president. i hope this war ends...i mean this conflict...the war is over...ended in may right? i have no respect for this president.
my vote was to replace a sitting president that failed to do the job. one of the tasks was to find osama. just a guy..with no car...how far could he go? you told us we were close to capturing him...then i woke up one morning to you talking about saddam...wtf? i thought it was an old tape of your pappy talking about the gulf war. what happened to the goal of capturing osama? well you told us he was the leader of terror. and now you say you don't see him as a threat. are you serious? do you need another tape? oh wait you got it.
i didn't like kerry that much. but bush had his chance. let's give kerry a try...i would vote him out in four years if he failed too.
i miss clinton...
it still baffles me that a country as great as america, as immense in size, a population of 294,671,097, we only have these two men running to represent us. these two are all we could come up with? fuck.
so W you can now take the 6 month vacation that you love to take...you've been waiting and this dang election thing was in your way...but as you said before...you will be working on protecting the protection of the american people with the protection you will provide in the protectional bubble-thing that you have provided...working hard on that...whatever that is....do you even know what you are saying?
so here is to another four years...of...i dunno...something...probably nothing...
i'll just lull around and set the tivo for all-girl fear facter
let's party
