ramblings...

wednesday

i am currently reading survivour by chuck palahniuk. so far it is very entertaining and has actually turned into a book i can't put down. started reading it on monday and i am halfway through it and will complete it by friday. too much time or a bona fide fantastic book...mostly the book. i read his earlier novel, invisible monsters, over the summer. i really think his writing style and storytelling in awesome. this book will be one of my favorites.

i was working in photoshop today and listening to some music when the dsl connection dropped. no more music. i thought nothing of it and was about to reset the modem, but i was distracted by a ticking sound. a sound i have never heard before. i looked around, under the desk, at the keyboard, then up at the clock on the wall. the clock was ticking. i only mention this because the clock in question has never made any noise of any kind. strange i thought. i stare at it, mouth slightly open. watch the second hand move with every tick. why does it make noise now? or is it in my head, before i could figure it out the dsl line is back up and the music started streaming.

friday

parked on the top level of the new parking structure downtown. the whole thing is massive, just like most parking structures in larger towns, it feels like santa barbara now.

looks and feels like winter is on its way. this morning was bloody cold. rain is near.

tuesday

i registered brianphotos.com. surprised it was available. brianphoto.com was taken, but i like the plural form better. thinking about selling some of my photos. they turn out real well when printed. not looking to get rich from selling my photos but a little extra cash would never hurt. a bonus really. in all honesty, i just would like to see if people are interested in purchasing them. actually having some of my photos on display in someone else's home or office. that would be cool. plus, it will help me get out and look for cool things to photograph ( i would say shoot, but with this wacko on the loose, i best not). what do you think? interesting idea? let me know.

sunday

uh huh. miss me?

here i am. i have been meaning to post some photos and some thoughts but never got around to it.

i have been busy with work and try to relax and get some reading done. installed 8 new dell systems for a client. i had to do it after hours and took me about a week to get all the machines setup in the cubicles and install all the software on them. late nights to say the least. every day there a little quirks that they call about, just simple things, some things i overlooked, and just the fact they are now on windows 2000 and office xp. i bit different then the windows 98 office 2000 machines they had. seems there are lots of changes from office 2000 to office xp. personally i am sticking with office 2000.

other work has been small and monotonous. nothing stimulating. just site updates, tech calls, and impossible requests. looking forward to getting some new site designs in. peachy canyon winery is getting a facelift. i designed this site three years ago. kim is putting a tighter design together also incorporating their new company image.

tired.

tuesday

happy tuesday. blah

my neighbor across the street provided me with two free tickets to the harbor festival in morro bay. he would be there working the south entrance. i wasn't even expecting that and really had nothing to do on sunday. so i gladly accepted them. i went 4 years ago to this festival. i don't remember much about it which has to state something. i took my roommate rob. as we drove into morro bay, slowly, i began to remember how large the event was due to scant parking.

we almost decided to turn around and forget about it. but we found one that was even near the entrance. another surprise was finding my neighbor and within seconds he supplied us both with $12 worth of wine tasting tickets. nice. so we made our way straight to the wine tasting tent. and that is where we were for the next few hours.

so this event for me was just about tasting wine and watching people. the weather was great, sunny and warm.

we sobered up and then drove back to town. i snapped off a few pictures but there really wasn't much to take photos of. we did get back to the truck and found the vehicle in front of me sustained some natural damage. that was worth a shot...

i found some pictures dated july 4th of this year, 2002. completely forgot about them. i guess i never posted them. very cool to find stuff like that. it's new all over again. even though i took these on independence day there are no fireworks. looks like i spent the day in morro bay with jen. the last two shots are the facades of two stores in downtown slo.
