ramblings...

when you want something you will either never get it or find it hard to attain. if you keep going after it, eventually victory will be yours. i keep telling myself that. you see, for quite sometime, i have been looking for 2 silver rings for my left hand. i want one for my left middle finger...[no reason] and one for my thumb. a simple 'want', right? i currently wear one ring on my right hand, which i found on a whim and have worn for many years. it is the typical guy-silver-ring i am sure you have all seen. the continuous waves encircling the band.

it started with a trip to la some years back. i wandered into this shop on santa monica blvd which had a display case a couple yards long. decided i could use another ring, with this much silver i was sure to find something. there were a few i liked, but not my size. [that is the other dilemma. my thumb is a 13.5 and my middle finger is 14. good luck they say]. no one has any cool rings in those sizes. damn! locally i have pushed my way into the tiny stands at farmer's market that offer an abundance of incense, tons of shiny rocks, belly rings, dreamcatchers, and good ole silver rings. umm, let's see....nothing. some real close, but almost resemble my current one and the size thing [size seems to matter in this case]. this weekend i ventured out to three shops in this town. they are located in the same vicinity of each other so it wasn't a major trip. from all three shops, i walked away empty handed. almost grabbing some espresso scented nag champa for the effort.

one day i will find these rings i speak of. until then, i can only dream.

The Mirror Project is a victim of its own success! With over 14,000 contributions from photographers all over the world, our server is falling apart. That's why we need to move to a new dedicated server, and that costs money. So we're reaching out to our community of contributors and supporters – people like you – to help keep the Mirror Project alive.

it's a great idea for a great site, help them out. feel good about yourself today...

so war is on. we just launched a 'DECAPITATION ATTACK', just like in the movies! george w. bush in decapitation attack coming to theatres this summer. so this attack was launched to surprise saddam hussein. surprise? wha? you think he was surprised? maybe that the us would not go to war after sending 300k troops to turkey? uh, okay...no bush doesn't want to go to war, not bush, the guy who governed a state with the highest executions in the land? bush loves to fight wars, it is in his blood. so go on bush kill, kill, kill, spend, spend, spend...i hope you 'okayed' this war with congress first? oh that's right, you overruled that amendment back in october, good for you georgie.

let's see who we piss off tomorrow.

this strikes me as funny.

on a lighter note. i think i am addicted to the fotolog.net web site. if you want a place to post your photos give this site a try. so simple to post photos to it. but be careful, people will actually browse your photos and maybe even leave a comment. cool. i have been posting photos from the aiptek pencam sd i just bought on that site. so check it out and leave me a comment. be gentle.

i also decided to break out my regular digital camera for some posts on this site. just a few. drove up to templeton today for a meeting.

And so she woke up
From where she was lying still
Said we got to do something about where we're going
Step on a steam train
Step out of the driving rain
Maybe run from the darkness in the night
Singing Ha La La La De Day
Singing Ha La La La De Day
Sweet the sin
But the bitter taste in my mouth
I see seven towers
But I only see one way out
You got to cry without weeping
Talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice, you know
I took the poison, from the poison stream,
Then I floated out of here
Singing Ha La La La De Day
Singing Ha La La La De Day
She runs through the streets
With her eyes painted red
Under black belly of cloud in the rain
In through a doorway she brings me
White gold and pearls stolen from the sea
She is raging
She is raging and the storm blows up in her eyes
She will suffer the needle chill
She is running to stand still
-- u2 running to stand still from the joshua tree

well, i did it. went out and bought that pencam i wrote about on sunday. here it is. pretty sweet little camera. the shots are pretty decent when enough light is around. and it is tiny as hell. shirt pocket for sure and i can hide it in my closed fist. the photos are high res and print fairly well too. editing the photos in photoshop to doctor them up helps create a photo that would rival most high end digital cameras. here is a before and after. cool camera. it even takes small video clips. but only with an optional secure digital card. which i may be getting anyway to hold more still photos. right now this camera holds about 10 to 13 photos on its internal memory.

over all very happy i made this purchase.

i even started up a fotolog just for these shots. i may not post any on this site so be sure to bookmark it and check back regularly. you may leave a comment in the guestbook of each photo. if you like the site it is free to sign up and have your own.

now to go make some money to justify this purchase.

actually happy st. patrick's day to all you Mc's out there. i am usually down at the pubs, too bad it is a monday night. ah screw it, i aint even irish.

sunday

one thing has been on my mind since friday night and has stayed pretty prominent in the foreground of my thoughts. nesting. i want something...not need...but want. it is silly. in the past i would have just went for it...got it. made the purchase. this thing i want is this. that's right. a pocket sized camera. i love to take pictures and this would be ideal to take anywhere for some quick fun shots. like a polaroid [minus the expensive film and bulky size]. the pictures are decent, many times better then the eyemodule for my pda.

perfect camera to just have fun with. no flash so inside shots will depend on the amount of light available. but then photoshop makes great work of aweful photos. [see how i keep justifying my need to have this camera in my hands!]

i want it.

could i possibly lose my mind over this? i have bid on ebay, only to lose to a higher bidder, i have been to best buy enough times to garner stares and whispers between the employees when i take the camera out of the box, act like i am taking pictures in various poses, slip it into my pocket to test the 'carrying-factor', and then leave empty handed [replacing the camera in the box of course].

i must have it.

i have found some sample photos on the web from people who have the camera. here and here. not bad for a little camera.

thinking, thinking, thinking....blah.

must leave for best buy.

the price of gas in california is ridiculous. government propaganda and corporate greed. really. i mean it is a psychological game on the american people. but california is by far the highest. most claims are the geopolitical developments over the past few months, potential war with iraq and the increase of emissions controlling chemicals added to raw petrol. all bs....bullshit. first off the potential war with iraq and the growing resentment from our current allies was bound to happen and should not reflect the price of gas...maybe food, but not gas. we really need food...gas...well, i have to drive, see my heart can't take the torture of physical activity, :). second, war with iraq will do nothing to the importing of crud oil to america. this article points out that america imports less than 3 percent of crude from iraq. interesting. so it is bs, typical.

another article.

governments and corporations hide the real reasons for the price hike...simply, to make more money...people will pay these prices. californians love their cars. nothing would make them stop driving. i am relieved that cars do not run on water though...it would cost so much to fill up your fuel tank with water...because last time i checked, a bottle of water is $1.09 for a 20oz. so if i can slip into 6th grade math mode, 128ozs equal 1 gallon, so that means a gallon of water would cost $6.98 per gallon. i love being extreme....but you get my point...no one complains about the cost of these bottled waters from the french alps...maybe we should have cars that run on gallons of milk...oh wait...

filling up on candy. started reading this over the weekend. i have never been a heroin junkie. following a young australian couple, very much in love, always looking to score, trying to quit, and then putting it off until the next day. their situations are pathetic, disturbing, and occasionally bright. but so far the power of heroin plays a large role in their love. something i cannot relate to. if you have checked out my book list or my wishlist there are a handful of books i have read with stories about fucked-up people and the little lives they lead. the 80's drug scene, simple people destroyed by fame, murder, pop culture.... i find these stories fascinating.

woodencracker.com was reviewed by the weblog review. frozensouth gave a solid review about the site. high marks for the navigation of the site, which is one thing i really focus on, i want people to find their way around. got a rating of 3.5. neat. only comment is about the photos. i use photos in place of words at times. so when i have nothing to say, you have some eye candy and the photos speak for themselves. to share.

read the review and vote for me yourself. submit your blog if you dare...

i do a lot of gardening here at the house. i like it. always have, even on houses i rented. i didn't put too much work or plant expensive flowers into the houses i rented. just enough to give me something to do and make the place look pleasant. the trick is to plant into pots. this makes transportation between moves very easy. yard work, i find, is very peaceful and a great stress reliever. no allergies which makes it even more enjoyable.

one accessory that i have wanted for a few years is a garden gnome [not trying to copy the movie, but maybe that did help perpetuate my wanting even more]. my mother has had various little gnomes in her garden since i was little. they had some good battles against my gi joes and transformers. i digress...never found one i liked or was an acceptable price. i mentioned to my mother over the holidays that i was still looking around for a gnome and to let me know if she ever saw one. i never described a particular kind, because i didn't know myself. i would just know when i found it...

well, on her visit last weekend she surprised me with a gnome she picked up at a discount store. the dude stands about 20 inches. i was stoked! great colors and he has an axe. he doesn't fuck around, armed to the teeth. very pleased. so now to place him in various spots. tyler tells me he is going to take him when he goes on vacation, a la the movie, he thinks he is funny.

i have been a heavy sleeper lately. no dreams that i wake up and begin to remember, no remembering the moment i began to fall asleep...no remembering period. strange, i know i am putting myself to bed and then suddenly the alarm is screaming some new age, post rock single...i must be really tired. am i dreaming? must be...i read something once that stated your mind never shuts off voluntarily. you must will it. something is going on in there while i am sleeping...dreams could be pretty intense. what images can a mind conjure up on absolute sleep. dead sleep.

damn, i forgot to mail out invoices today!

tuesday

alive.

yes, it is true...a long break. i needed it. the weather continues to be fabulous in the area, rain one minute, bright sunshine the next. work is picking up and staying steady.

new projects popping up around the house. i purchased my first new major appliance. i threw down some cash for a washer and dryer before, but second hand. over the weekend my dishwasher crapped out. the roommates and i rarely use it. it broke last year some time and i had it repaired [simple oiling of parts was all she needed]. with the rarity that i use the dishwasher there were a ton of dishes from a party the night before. i decided it would make an easy cleanup of the mess. after loading it with guck, grease, sludge and the odorous smell of meat, i closed the door and started the cycle. i listened as it sprayed water around the dishes, then stopped....right, it broke again. damn. i ventured out an bought a new one, however, it is on backorder and wont be delivered until the 20th. double damn. btw, i still haven't emptied the decaying dishes lying in murky, aromatic water...too afraid.
