in case any of you that read my blog like my words more than my photos. i have created an avantgo channel for your palm or handheld device. give it a try. none of the usual photos i post will sync. it will just be a text version of this page. okay, you're right i am bored. if you don't have an avantgo account, i recommend setting one up. it is free and you can sync up some news, music and weather sites. comes in handy when you are taking a road trip or to catch up on events when you are just waiting around.
nerd alert: i am writing this from a wireless lan. i have had the linksys wireless router for some time but no wireless adapters. i borrowed a dlink usb adapter from a friend. works well for surfing the web but trying to pull files from my server is bloody dreadful. nothing beats tethered 100 base-t, except fiber... :)

wednesday
the weather messes up my hair
rain, rain, rain...very rainy day. ventured out into the rain for two meetings today. then back inside for a warm fire. one of the perks of working out of the home and having a fireplace.
a cold is creeping up on me though. decided to buy some medicine last night. it took me easily 10 minutes to decide what i needed. i don't get sick very much and even more so i don't take medicine. this turned out to be quite an event. have you seen all the drug labels? first off, there are pills, liquids, powders, liquid pills. then the names, we have: cold with nasal congestion, acute head cold, cold and cough, cold and sinus, head and chest cold, sore throat and cough, flu like symptoms with sneezing, cold and body ache, cold and allergy. geez! it hurts the brain. then i found out there are different ones for night and day! just give me the one labeled 'don't make any fucking plans because you are gonna be knocked out'.
of course everyone i talk to tells me how to take care of this cold: zinc this, echinacea that, chicken soup, honey, no coffee...oh, wrong phrase, no coffee! bah to them i say! if i take the meds, drink hot water and all that, i deserve a fresh cup!
gotta put another log on the fire and pop some pills.

so tyler has this old television...it is built into a wood cabinet...that is what i mean by old...it weighs more than a ford focus. i have no room to store it. but tyler didn't want to store it. he wanted to do the only thing one can do with an archaic television set. destory it. bash it, saw it, crush it, drop-kick it. we're guys what can i say?

wednesday
i have a new roommate now. rob moved out to his own place on chorro street, a few blocks from where i used to live. tyler was my old roommate from the chorro house. his lease was up and i needed a new roommate, so it worked out great. plus i already knew him. at first i was a little concerned about not finding a roommate. i placed an ad in the tribune (what this town calls its local paper :|) and only one person answered. it was a mother and child. i couldn't do that at all...no kids! anyway i ran the ad for one week and only one call...i saw the ad everyday so it was running. i guess no one was looking to move into a shared house. does slo have a housing problem? interesting to see all these new housing locations going up around slo. a new complex on los osos valley road, some huge complex on the poly campus. and once those are built, housing will still be a problem. just had a thought. bringing up chorro makes me remember the little liquor store around the corner. convenient to pop in and out to get little things: liquor, a soda, a sandwich, liquor, liquor. i miss the small market. where i live now there is no small market, just a big vons. but it is open 24hrs... a good thing?
here are some photos from tyler’s first night as the new roommate. if you are a local reading this, tyler may look familiar, he is one of the managers at trader joes. which is another plus of having him as a roommate! the last 8 months he has been at the arroyo grande location. mochi anyone? what is your favorite item at trader joes?

monday
more sun...
more flowers...
my digital camera does not take great photos up close. using the macro setting some shots do come out, but not as perfect if i used a macro lens...a bit costly right now...so these shots will have to do. the canon a20 had trouble with the bright red flowers in direct sunlight. they became over saturated. [note to self, enough with the bad mouthing let them see the photos!]
gerber daisies.
i will be adding a section in the photos area dedicated to wallpapers for your computer desktop. i have had a few requests for this so i think i will upload some high resolution photos. here is one i did from the set above. in photoshop, i applied a gaussian blur and adjusted the contrast and curves. a little dark but a pretty cool effect i think. here it is if you want it for your desktop wallpaper - IMG_4061.jpg (1152 x 864). or if you like the orginal photo - IMG_4061a.jpg (1152 x 864). in the meantime email me if you would like me to send you a high resolution file of my photos on the site. let me know your desktop resolution so i can size it to fit your screen and which photos you would like.
